BEHAVIOURAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES IN HEALTH PROMOTION

This course educates students in the principles, methods and applications of Behavioural and Social Sciences in Health Promotion. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of the ecological model of health and the influence of macro- and micro-environmental factors in shaping health conditions as well as in morbidity and mortality. Particular emphasis is given to the basic principles and functions of human behavior, as the majority of Health Promotion programs at all levels of prevention are focused on the modification of human behaviour.

 

In this context, students will study in depth and be able to:

· comprehend the theories and methods of Behavioural and Social Sciences as applied to the study of human behaviour

· understand the role of Behavioural and Social Sciences in the field of Behavioural Epidemiology

· correctly apply the theories and models of Behavioural and Social Sciences in the context of effective and efficient Health Promotion interventions
