PREVENTIVE INTERVENTION STUDIES

Health Promotion and Wellness of the population depends on the evidence-based design, implementation and evaluation of preventive interventions. Preventive intervention studies concern all levels of prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary). There is an imperative need to evaluate Health Promotion programs in order to assess the balance between benefits and harms, to document the necessity of initiatives taken by medico-social associations and to assess the combined effectiveness and efficacy of preventive measures.

 

In this context, students will study in depth and be able to:

· comprehend the basic principles of design, approval, implementation and analysis of preventive intervention studies

· understand the importance of the basic principles of integrated prevention and health promotion programs

· recognize the need to evaluate preventive measures with evidenced-based effectiveness

· comprehend the characteristics and the design of preventive controlled trials

· be aware of the specific issues that may arise in the design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of the results of preventive controlled trials
